Celebrating Heritage, Promoting Our Future

Executive Summary

If we are successful in this grant bid we will deliver the following innovative features and make them available to these and all future projects:

External Link Archiving

Work with developers to create coding that will appear on older pages automatically linking to WayBack/Archive.org versions of external sources.

external linking

 Primary Source Expansion

Further research on over 1,000 records of Lowestoft OurFallen using TEN other primary sources (some only recently available), making it one of the most accurate, accessible and detailed in the country. Create training workshops, videos etc to allow others to do the same

Major Events > local consequences

StreetStroll enabled us to put street buildings in order to tell their story. TimeStroll does the same with important eras in our history and the way this affected individuals

Timescroll

Capture NOW for the Future

We have exciting new ways to capture the world today, but often these techniques rely on embedding external features and paying for licences or they disappear. We are working with developers to add such features directly into our pages so they will always work even on Archive.org in 20years time

Spin

Relational Database

Linking blocks highlight other records that connect stories, in this case 3 separate families over a 28 years watching as they all leave through the same front door (No12) or that over half the casualties were under 25

ACESSIBILITY and LONGEVITY

WE can say we KNOW our projects will be available decades to come and future generations because this is built in from the start and can act as an example of best practice. By adapting to work well with Archive.org, use of print media, QR codes, multiple formats and offline versions
