Saturday Rewind finds the sun
London Road North's Saturday Rewind had a conspiratorial word, and the sun duly shone on First Light's third market town event on Saturday 19th March.
Initially conceived as a market, the event had morphed into a retro celebration, with music, stalls, a mobile bookseller, street entertainers and a general feel-good vibe.
Every stall and the stage were covered. It was well organised.
Use It All – local recycling campaign – had a space next to Penny Bun Bakehouse, who had an enviable stream of customers. Other stalls included a T-Shirt upcycler, vintage clothes, and a make-do-and-mend (a neat fit to Use It All). Books and Print had its clever bicycle-trailed mobile bookshop.
Sundown DJs musically kicked it off with some chilled dub type beach music, and then The Vibettes upped the energy level, kicking off with a smashing version of In the Mood, followed by a bouncing set of swing, peppered with comedy routines.
Little Red Kings swathed us in swirling harmonies, and Slick Division slickly brought us to the end of a successful event.
